FAQ
Q: What exactly is an essential oil?
A: Essential oils are aromatic oils that are extracted from certain aromatic plants. Essential oils are highly concentrated products that have a variety of supportive health care properties, along with their beautiful fragrances.
Q: How do essential oils work?
A: The power of the sense of smell is well known, just think of the last time you smelled freshly baked chocolate chip cookies! Smell is associated with our ability to remember, to learn, our general emotional state, and more. In addition to the power of scent, essential oils support our health when physically applied on the skin or inhaled.
Q: What are the qualifications of a Certified Aromatherapist?
A: The practice of effective Aromatherapy requires the study of anatomy and physiology, chemistry, botany, the safe and effective use of essential oils, and clinical supervision. To insure that your Aromatherapist is a professionally qualified practitioner, they should be certified by either the Alliance of International Aromatherapists (AIA) or the National Association of Holistic Aromatherapists (NAHA).
Q: How long is an aromatherapy consultation?
A: Your first session is an hour and half. Follow up sessions vary from 30-60 minutes. Follow up sessions are a time for refining and refilling blends, addressing any new concerns, and for learning more ways to use essential oils to support your health.
Q: Are there any safety concerns with aromatherapy?
A: As with any product that is applied to the skin, there are a few basic guidelines for using these products safely. Safety Guidelines (LINK)
